On July 9. 2019. the United States Postal Service introduced a set of Frogs stamps. showcasing some of the world’s most captivating amphibians. Frogs can be found on every continent except Antarctica. and there are over 4.800 known species. with more than 90 species residing in the United States.
The Frogs stamp series features four North American frog species. each depicted on a separate stamp:
Pacific Tree Frog: This frog is recognized for its iconic “rib-bit. rib-bit” call and is often referred to as the “Hollywood frog” because it frequently appears in movies and TV shows. particularly those with nighttime scenes.
Northern Leopard Frog: Known for its distinctive snoring-like sound. resembling a rattle. followed by a series of “chuckling” or “clucking” noises.
American Green Tree Frog: Also known as the rain frog or cowbell frog. this species becomes especially vocal after a warm rain shower.
Squirrel Tree Frog: Found from southeastern Virginia through Florida and along the Gulf Coast to Texas. this frog emits a raspy. quack-like call reminiscent of the scolding noise made by gray squirrels.
